Ride anywhere
you can imagine
OpenCycle is a free cycling simulator with procedurally generated worlds. Set up your trainer, start pedaling, and ride anywhere.
Requires Chrome, and a smart trainer or a speed sensor.
Infinite worlds
Never get bored indoors
From a summer afternoon in the hills to neon-lit Tokyo, a snowbound mountain pass, or the dust of Mars. Ride anywhere you can dream of.

Explore endless worlds
OpenCycle builds the road under your wheels — the curves, the gradients, the trees, the houses, the mountains on the horizon. Every world is unique.
Endless roads
The route streams in ahead of you and is released behind, so there is no lap and no finish line. Ride for five minutes or five hours — the road keeps going.
Real hills, real gradients
Elevation is part of the terrain, not a scripted profile. The gradient you see on the HUD is the actual slope of the road beneath you, and it drives the effort the ride demands.
Every ride is unique
Each world is a small spec — palette, weather, architecture, planting, how the road bends. Every one is generated fresh, but always in keeping with the place it is meant to be.
Built for serious fun
Ride for hours. Climb for real.
An endless road makes endless base miles — settle into Z2 and let the world unfold for as long as you want to turn the pedals. Or point yourself at a mountain and grind out a climb on gradients that genuinely bite. There is no lap counter and no finish line, so you can ride to a plan, or just follow the road and see where it takes you.
Everything below is in the app today, and all of it is free. Structured sessions that size themselves to the time you have, worlds you make by describing them, real climbs from a GPX file, and a link that puts a friend on the road beside you.
Your rider
Customize your avatar and gear
Build, skin tone, hair, kit, helmet and frame colour — chosen from swatches picked to read clearly at chase-camera distance, and remembered between sessions. Your rider looks the same in every world, so the bike never quietly changes colour when the palette does.
Make your own
Describe a world and ride it
Twenty-seven worlds ship with it, and the twenty-eighth is yours. Say where you want to ride — a foggy Scottish moor at dawn — and OpenCycle hands you a prompt for whatever AI you already have open. Paste the reply back and the road is there. No API key, no account, no bill: this app has no inference cost to pass on, so it borrows the chat window you were already paying for. Or bring a real climb — drop in a GPX file and ride its actual gradient through whichever world you like, because the file decides what it feels like and the world decides what it looks like.
Ride together
Bring a friend onto the same road
Share a link and they drop into your world, on your road, alongside you — same seed, same gradients, same weather. You can see the gap in metres and who is up the road, and sitting on a wheel actually shelters you, so a turn on the front costs what it should. It runs on a few bytes a second: positions are only sent when the other end's guess would have drifted, which on a steady effort is close to never.
Structured training
Sessions that build themselves
Set your FTP, pick how long you have, and choose from easy spin, endurance, sweet spot, threshold or VO2 max. Each one sizes itself to the time you asked for — warm-up and cool-down scale, the main set repeats as many times as fits, and the total is exact to the second. Every card shows the watts it will ask of your FTP before you start it. On a trainer with ERG the target is held for you; without one it is a number to ride to, and nothing else in the app treats that ride differently. Or write your own: pick blocks, set the minutes, done.
Trainer integration
Connect your devices
Bluetooth pairing for smart trainers, power meters, FTMS devices, cadence sensors and heart-rate straps. A basic wheel-on turbo and a speed sensor work too — OpenCycle counts wheel revolutions and reads them against the resistance curve of your trainer, and nothing else in the game treats that ride differently.
Metrics and sync
Track your rides, and keep them
Real-time power, speed, cadence, gradient, distance, elevation climbed and elapsed time — one colour per metric so you find it by hue before you read it, and tabular figures so nothing jitters mid-effort. Save any ride as a .fit file and Strava, intervals.icu, TrainingPeaks and Garmin Connect all import it directly — the file lands on your machine, and nothing is uploaded from here.
Go for a ride
It runs in the browser, there is nothing to install, and it costs nothing — no trial, no card, no tier above this one.
