OpenCycle is ready to ride. It is a free virtual cycling platform where the road keeps generating ahead of you, a GPX file becomes a rideable course, and an idea can become a world.
A road, not a lap
Most virtual cycling starts with a map. OpenCycle starts with a generator. It builds the next part of the road while you ride, so a world can keep going without turning into the same familiar loop. There are 31 included worlds, from alpine roads and cherry blossom lanes to Mars, a paper model and deep space.
You can make one too. Describe a place to an AI assistant, paste the world specification it returns into OpenCycle, and ride it. The creation flow is intentionally transparent: you can read, keep and change the world file yourself.
Bring a real course
Drop in a GPX route and OpenCycle uses its real turns and gradients, then grows scenery from the places along the road. It is useful for rehearsing a race course, remembering a favorite ride, or finding out exactly where that climb begins before the day matters.
Training is part of the ride
Pair a smart trainer, power meter, speed sensor, cadence sensor or heart-rate strap in a supported Chromium browser. Structured workouts, ERG targets, custom sessions and workout imports are all included. When the ride is over, export a standard .fit file and keep your training history wherever you already keep it.
Bring a few friends
An invite is just a link. Everyone who opens it lands on the same generated road, and drafting changes the ride the way it should. OpenCycle is built for small rides together today; it is not trying to pretend it already has mass races, leagues or leaderboards.
Why free?
The simulator runs in the browser and most of the work happens on your own machine, so a ride is inexpensive to serve. There is no trial, paid tier or card. I built OpenCycle alone on a trainer in my garage because indoor riding gave me more than another training tool: it made more rides possible. This is my way of giving some of that back.
